Juice Fast

Here are all of the posts relating to our juice fast. If I had to narrow down some basics that I would tell ANYONE attempting a juice fast they would be:

1. PREPARE YOUR BODY. Your  body needs time to adjust to what is about to happen. Don’t eat your regular diet one day, then suddenly juice for a week the next. You will regret it, I promise you. Your  body needs to be weaned off of the junk you’ve been feeding it for a week beforehand (if doing a fast longer than 3 days) or at least a few days, if doing a shorter fast. Cut out sugar, processed foods, dairy, meat, and grains several days before. Then only eat fresh fruits and vegetables for the two days leading up to the fast.

2. JUICE WHEN YOU’RE HUNGRY. During the fast, you should NEVER feel starving or deprived. If you are hungry, juice. If you’re thirsty, juice. Drink plenty of water and some herbal tea if you wish. But don’t try and deprive yourself. The point is to nourish your body, not to deprive it.

3. WEAN OFF THE FAST SLOWLY. One of the main mistakes people probably make when coming off of a fast is seeing all the food around them and wanting to just binge on everything because they are starving for something to CHEW. Avoid doing this, and wean yourself back on to regular food, introducing one food group at a time. Pay particular attention to how each new food makes your body feel. You might notice some sensitivities (I was particularly sensitive to bread/wheat). Savor the way that food tastes now, because there will be a shocking difference. Enjoy it.
