If you need a great, crowd-friendly breakfast or brunch idea this summer, put together an easy yogurt bar!
Last year for my birthday, my husband surprised me with a trip to Moab, UT, with Awaken Retreats. It was three full days of yoga, anti-gravity yoga (the most amazing experience EVER), pilates, High Fitness, eating amazing food, and being outside “glamping.” The retreat was in October and it was the first time I have ever been away from all of my kids over night. I felt a little guilty at first, but enjoyed every minute and took the time to reflect and rejuvenate myself. If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend it. I went completely alone, not knowing anyone, and made some amazing friendships.
When we all arrived at the retreat we were greeted with a fabulous yogurt bar that Shannon of Clean Eats Clean Treats and Erika of Clean Simple Eats put together for us. The yogurt bar is such a good idea for so many events — camping, baby showers, brunch parties, family reunions, birthday parties, etc. It’s easy to customize, easy to throw together, and is fresh and delicious!
I made these for my family a couple of weeks ago and they were a major hit with my kids. They loved adding whatever they felt like to their jars. I had to include it on my blog and share with the WORLD ;).
My ideal yogurt bar includes any or all of the following:
- plain greek yogurt (less additives, more protein) or coconut yogurt for dairy-free (my tummy appreciates this, a lot)
- berries of ALL kinds
- my homemade lemon curd
- coconut flakes
- hemp hearts
- chia seeds
- chopped nuts
- cacao nibs
- raw honey
- tropical fruit: mango, kiwi, pineapple, bananas, etc.
- granola — but beware, this is a popular “health food” that is typically laden with additives, so check your ingredients or make your own!
The possibilities are endless! Grab a bunch of cute little 1/2 pint jars, all of your toppings, and let everyone make their own parfaits! And truly, don’t leave out the lemon curd, it really adds something special and unique to the yogurt bar.
Let me know what toppings you come up with!
