Hi elizabeth, i would definitely still recommend silver fern hands down. i haven’t done enough digging into the organifi one since it’s so new and i didn’t even realize they made one until recently. but silver fern did it right!

It would depend on individual needs. Those with severe issues or autoimmune diseases should ideally be taking probiotics daily. And you can just take one if you want, not two every day. I think what you outlined as far as going strong and then backing off to a few times a week is ideal for those who eat well and are healthy! That’s what I do. 🙂

Can you do it a few days a week or maybe go really Strong having 2 a day for a few months then back off and just take a few days a week?

Absolutely not. There is no point in having them refrigerated, only to immediately die the second they hit your stomach. First of all, it makes no sense logically. Secondly, and I guess more importantly, there is no scientific backing for that. Keeping the strains refrigerated is seen as the best way by many, and therefore they charge an arm and a leg to get the “alive” ones. You want strains that are stable and fine on their own, if they need to be babied, they won’t survive your system to colonize the lower gut! Hope that helps. Sorry if it’s a bit ranty. . . ha.

I’ve read that probiotics kept at room temp lose their potency. Do you know if there is any validity in that?

Of course, the other two I have found that meet these criteria are just Thrive and Megasporebiotic.

Would you be able to send the other brand names that meet the criteria? My whole family is currently using gutPRO. Thanks! I love your blog.
